Recently Launched: Lakme Absolute Luxe Matte Lip Color With Argan Oil, Smooth Marsala, Review, LOTD

Skin Tone: Fair

Hello ladies,

As they say, “On a bad day, there is always a lipstick to look forward to”! 😉 The pop of color surely does add some life to an otherwise dull day! So today’s post is for all the lipstick lovers out there!

Lakme recently launched their Luxe Matte Lip Color Range that is infused with Moroccan Argan Oil. It comes in 18 beautiful colors and the one that I picked up is the shade ‘Smooth Marsala’. I have been using this for the past 2 weeks now and wanted to share my experience with you guys. So let’s start with the review and see how this one fared for me! Stay tuned!

What The Brand Claims: The power of Argan oil continues to enrich and nourish your lips… But this time, with a luxurious matte finish. A highly pigmented range of slimsticks, Lakmé Absolute Luxe Matte Lip Color with Argan Oil delivers a luxurious finesse to your lips. Matte finish by nature, these premium looking slimsticks are enriched with Argan Oil that keep your lips nourished and healthy and are available in 18 trendy shades that flatter all Indian skin tones.

Packaging: The lipstick comes in a black outer cover with gold print as seen below. Once you open it, inside you can find the lipstick in a royal golden colored tube that looks very sleek and elegant. However, I did not like the black plastic inside that feels kind of cheap and flimsy. The cap shuts tightly with a click which makes it easy to carry around.

The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the tube, but there is no mention of ingredient list, which is quite disappointing. Also, these lippies are not color-coded, so locating a particular shade can be a bit of a task.

Shade: Even though the arm swatch shown below depicts a berry shade, this is indeed a true maroon hue. The color is stunning and would go well with almost all skin tones.

My Experience With The Product: When I first applied the lipstick on my bare lips, the application was very patchy and I experienced a lot of tugging. I literally had to drag the product in order to get some color on! I was very disheartened and was sure that this would be terribly drying and a total dud! But once I exfoliated and moisturized my lips, the lipstick glided on somewhat better. So, prepping the lips is a must for this range of lippies, else it will cling on to the dry patches! I also noticed that as you consume more and more product, the texture somehow becomes easy to work with.

The pigmentation of this particular shade is average. You will need to go over 2-3 times in order to achieve full opacity. The finish of this lipstick is matte and it transfers very little. It feels lightweight and comfortable on the lips and is not much drying. It is quite long-lasting as well and stayed on my lips for around 5 hours with light snacks. Even when the color starts to fade off, it leaves a beautiful stain behind, which I really like. Coming to the fragrance, if you sniff too closely, there is a very faint artificial scent. But since it is barely there, so nothing to worry about!

Yays!

  • Luxurious gold packaging
  • Enriched with Moroccan Argan Oil
  • Comfortable matte finish
  • Gorgeous color
  • Not much drying on the lips
  • Transfers very little
  • Good staying power

Nays!

  • Prepping the lips is a must to avoid patchy application
  • Average pigmentation
  • Highly overpriced
  • No color coding

Price: Rs 800 for 2 gm

Rating: B-

Do I Recommend This? Honestly, I was quite disappointed with this lip color. The formulation is not up to the mark and the color payoff is also just average. Even though the color is gorgeous, but I won’t be repurchasing this. And, worst of all is the exorbitant price! It seems like I am paying so much just for the packaging, which is definitely not worth it!
